Celebrate Cinco de Mayo by feasting on Piccadillo stuffed Horn Chilli with Mexican Green Rice, Black beans and Pico de Gallo. Each order gets corn chips and fresh guacamole to start – what better way to spend a Saturday than with your amigos!

If you tried Mitch’s ribs last month then you will be booking in for this one – they are finger licking good for $23 – matched with a pint for $5 makes for a hearty meal on a cold night.

We all love our Mum’s so why not book in for lunch or dinner at The Duck Inn and make it a day for Mum to remember.  Every Mum receives a glass of bubbles to celebrate.

If you are a wine officiando (or if you just love drinking the stuff), you will want to come to our Kalleske Wine Dinner on May 16. Troy Kalleske, one of Australia’s best young winemakers, will be taking us on a journey through his wines. Our last wine dinner booked out quickly so don’t miss this one. Book now. Kalleske Wines – “Handcrafted organic wines – the way nature intended”.

We have been inundated with requests for the next UNO competition – so fellow UNO tragics – here it is!  May 23 at 7.30pm.  Get your team together to see who can become the inaugural Winter UNO champ.  Winner gets their own glass behind the bar etched with their name!

PIES AND PINTS – one word – YUM!  Get right into winter with our week long pies and pints party.  Pies matched with pints – will it be beef matched with Vale Ale/IPA or will it be chicken matched Estrella or maybe a vegetable pie matched with Two Birds Golden Ale? Get down here and find out.

Our Duck has been knapped – and other fun stuff!

During January, our Duck got knapped!  Not once but twice.  Then he appeared in photos on our Facebook page with stars like Anthony Warlow, Alan Jones and Todd Kenney.  Check them out if you haven’t already on our FB page. Our Duck appears to like rubbing shoulders (or is that beaks?) with Sydney’s finest.

Speaking of Sydney’s finest, by special request from one of our fav locals, Kay, we are bringing back the Sunday Roast. This Sunday February 5 from midday – make sure you book so you don’t miss out as tables are filling fast!

Thanks to everyone who supported our Lammie Drive 2 Fundraiser dinner which was held on January 25 to raise money for Breast and Prostate Cancer Research at St. Vincents.  Nearly $1,000 was raised on the night – a huge thanks to The Beauty Room, Seymour Centre, Mr. T’s t-shirts and Duck Hollow for donating raffle prizes.  This photo shows the Lambretta Siobhan rode from Sydney to Perth in 2009 and on the left, is the one she is rebuilding for Lammie Drive 2 from Cape York to Wilsons Prom next year.  We will hold another fundraiser later in the year to support one of our awesome locals – Siobhan!

Nothing said Oz Day like lamb on the spit and long necks – not to mention the fun and laughs of the first ever High Five competition.  If you want a few giggles, more photos are on our FB page. There are lots more fun events coming to the Duck – Valentine’s DInner (not too mushy), Summer Uno comp on Feb 21 and of course, trivia every Monday night.  See you at The Duck!

Quacking fun @ The Duck in Jan!

So January is half over but the fun isn’t over at The Duck.  We have Trivia on Mondays, Lammie Drive 2013 Fundraiser dinner on January 25 and the official Chippendale Oz Day BBQ on, of course, Australia Day.

DUCK TRIVIA

If you are looking for something to take those work blues away and have a few laughs, get down to our Trivia nights which happen every Monday night @ 7.30pm.  Check out our FB page for the first night of 2012 – it was special – and Trivia Dave was only warming up.  A $75 bar tab is up for grabs to the winner each week so pop it in your diary and book a table with some mates.

LAMMIE DRIVE 2013 FUNDRAISER DINNER

The Duck is proud to be holding a fundraiser dinner on January 25 @ 7pm for Lammie Drive 2013.  Driving a Lambretta Scooter from Cape York to Wilson’s Prom, Siobhan is raising money for prostate and breast cancer for St. VIncents.

THE OFFICIAL CHIPPENDALE OZ DAY BBQ

Nothing says Australia Day like a lamb spit and some beers with your mates.

Did someone say Lamb on a spit?  Eat your heart out Sam Kekovitch – The Duck will have it’s on Barbie party going on – but we might play your tune for fun!  Call now to guarantee your tasty lamb on the spit!  Advance Australia Fair and all that jazz @ The Duck on Jan 26 from midday.

There’ll be the classic ol’ KB Gold and in true Australian quacking style, there will be the very first “High Five” competition, the daggiest Aussie hat comp and you can vote for who has worn the worst Boardies.  So make Australia Day fun this year.  Come to The Duck.

And that my fellow Quackers, was 2011!

What great fun we had in 2011.  Opening our doors in August, the fun began.  Our first Uno competition was held and won by Bill York, the Mad Hatters Tea Party was a hit with kids and big kids alike and our Melbourne Cup extravaganza went off.

Then we had Trivia Dave fire up our brains @ The Duck Inn Trivia nights.  These will start again on Monday January 16, so book your table now to take home the coveted $75 bar tab ( or for those that are trivia challenged like The Plucking Ducks, a bag of chocs could be yours!)  It’s lots of fun and laughter, with some karaoke, paper rock scissors or joke telling, not to mention the foil sculpting (shown below in the photos).

The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party was a hit with kids and big kids alike. This glorious Sydney day saw locals, friends and The Duck Inn team enjoy the oversize chess board, yummy cupcakes, face painting and jugs of Pimms.  It was an afternoon down the rabbit hole with Alice and The Mad Hatter as you can see from the photos.  More of these fun events are planned for 2012 (see Food, wine and fun for January’s frivolities – we even have a High Five competition coming up).

The Christmas silly season was a hit with The Duck pumping day and night. It was great to see so many of you here celebrating Santa’s impending visit down the chimney!

We love all our locals and regulars – so let us know what you want at The Duck Inn, and we will do our best to make it happen. Thanks for all the laughs, fun and good times in 2011 – here’s to 2012!

And they are racing!

What an action packed race the Melbourne Cup was!  Everyone held their breath for the photo finish before Dunaden was declared the winner!  And Dunaden wasn’t the only winner.  The judges @TheDuckInnPub had a hard task selecting the winners of the Best Hat and the Best Dressed.  Winners are grinners -

There were so many great hats but in the end, our Best Hat was awarded to the lovely Sally (left) pictured here with her friend, Krew and the yummy hamper of goodies she won!  We loved how everyone got into the spirit of the Melbourne Cup (even though we are in Sydney!)

Our best dressed prize went to the gurus from Strand Hatters – Robert, Peter and Rick. Looking very dapper, they had no trouble impressing the judges.  Bring back the hat for the guys we say!

A fun day out at The Duck Inn Pub and Kitchen, with a few crazy hats, a lot of very stylish people and a fantastic race watched indoors and out in the courtyard!  Can’t wait for next year’s cup now.
