Easter’s on its way so….we have the Lucky Little Rubber Duckie Hunt!

Who doesn’t love a good Easter Egg hunt? We have a little twist on the traditional egg hunt. It’s our very own Lucky Little Rubber Duckie Hunt. What the heck is that I hear you say?

427513_449787431718822_941034778_nEvery day leading up to Easter, we are hiding a little rubber duckie somewhere in the pub. If you find the duck, you win the prize. If no-one finds the duck from the day before, all ducks stay in play so the prizes build up over time.

So come on in and see if you can find our rubber duckie of the day (or the day before or the day before!) Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to see how many duckies are in play!

ANZAC Day, This Little Duckie went to market and Tapas….

Did you know that April starts on the same day of the week as July in all years, and January in leap years? Little bit of trivia about one of our favourite months!

April 1Exotic Petting Zoo in the garden and an April Fool’s favourite - allay

Come on in for our Exotic Petting Zoo in the garden, all day on April 1. And whilst you’re there, take part in our April Fool’s Day game. Buying a drink at the bar? Toss the coins. Two heads – your drink is free. Head and tail – normal price. Two tails – you pay double. Will you take the challenge?

April 7 – Super Fun Hot Curry Club from 6.00pm

The boys in the kitchen are weaving their magic again with our renowned Curry Club night. On the first Monday of every month, head to The Duck for trivia and a bit of spice in your life with delicious curries.

April 9 – Tasting Tap Takeover Paddles – 6.30pm to 8.00pm

Our tap takeover for April is Lord Nelson – Three Sheets, Old Admiral, Double Nelson and Victory Bitter on tap. So if you’ve always wanted to try these beers and meet the Brewer, head down on April 9 for Tasting Tap Takeover. Lord Nelson’s Head Brewer will be chatting from 6.30 − 8.00pm.

April 10 – Tapas Night from 7.00pm

For one night only, our Chefs have gone all Spanish (there may even be a Flamenco dress or two!) For $45.00 pp, you can dine on four courses of delicious tapas style shared plates. Served like traditional tapas should be on a communal table, you can sip on Sangria for $15 a jug or taste one of the special Spanish wines we are getting in specially for the occasion. So book now for a Spanish feast fiesta! Ole! Here’s the tapas feast:

  • Marinated olives in chili and red wine chorizo sausages with toasted bread.
  • Spanish meatballs in tomato sauce and garlic and butter pan roasted button mushrooms.
  • Traditional paella served with grilled Spanish vegetables.
  • Spanish churros and crème caramel to finish.

April 12 – This little Duckie went to Market from 9.30am to 12.00pm

With such a great vibe for our last two markets, we have planned the next three, so pop these dates in your diary - April 12, May 17 and June 14. It’s a cool place to check out the stalls, grab yourself a bacon and egg roll and a coffee and hang out with other fun people (and dogs!) Freshly squeezed juices (very healthy) made by our smiling bar staff will make a great start to the day. Open from 9.30am until 12.30pm. (VIDEO)

April 22 – Courtyard Belly Laugh Series from 7.00pm

On April 22, join us for a night of laughs in the courtyard as we watch Seinfeld. Bring your partner, bestie or pooch and hang out, have a meal and watch Seinfeld outdoors. Wireless earphones provided! From 7.00pm.

April 25 – ANZAC Day from midday

If last year is anything to go by, you all love a bit of 2-UP teamed with a longneck and pies,  on Anzac Day. And what fun it will be!

Join the 2-UP ring and commemorate this day. Salute the diggers with a toast on April 25 from midday. Feast on Aussie favourites like pies, sausage rolls, steak sambas and sausage sangas.  Head ‘em up.

McLaren Vale Beer Company is our tap takeover of the month. Come in for your Vale Ale, Vale IPA, Vale Lager and Vale Dark – all on tap this month.

Super Fun Hot Curry Club

It’s Super fun Hot Curry Club night on Monday March 3 from 6.00pm so pop in and grab one of these spicy dishes and stay for trivia (where you could win $100 beer tab!)

Feast on Lamb Biryani or Chicken Tikka Masala served with Mint and Cucumber yoghurt, onion, lemon and coriander salad, mango chutney and roti – mmmmmm. Tasty!

Festival of the Sausage is back!

Our yearly celebration of all things sausage! And this year, we have four amazing sausages for you to taste matched with beers/cider!

Buy tickets all week to our Wednesday Night Meat Raffle – $2 a ticket or 3 for $5. Come in for the draw at 8pm on Wednesday night and you get the choice of either:

This little Duckie went to Market
We had our first Little Duckie went to Market Day in the pub in February and it was fun. Despite the weather, you came and supported these local stall holders. So if you feel like having a coffee and an egg and bacon roll whilst checking out some cool market stalls in the pub, pop down on March 15 from 9.30am to 12.00pm.

St. Paddies Day Trivia and traditional Irish Corned Beef

Come along on St. Patrick’s Day dressed in your best Irish outfit (or nod to the Irish) to get extra points in trivia. And to celebrate the luck of the Irish, our chefs are putting on a feast of traditional Irish Corned beef with white sauce and all the trimmings – so mark your diary for this fun night (and you could win $100 bar tab for trivia)!

Super Fun Hot Curry Club

Rhys and Brad have been dreaming up a spicy extravaganza for this month’s Curry Club and it is going to be a doozy!

A South African slow cooked spicy mutton curry with potatoes served in a fresh baked hollowed out white bread. (no rice with this dish) 

And…….. a Chicken Korma cooked with yoghurt, cream, nuts, seed pastes, coconut milk and spices. Comes with Mango chutney, a turmeric, coriander red onion and lime salad, rice and roti.

So pop down on Monday Feb 3 from 6.00pm for your taste of hot and spicy.

Pets in the Pub for Animal Welfare League

Bring your B(est) F(our-legged) F(riend) to our Pets in the Pub Day on Saturday Feb 22 for an afternoon of fun from 1.00pm – all in the name of raising money for the Animal Welfare League NSW.
With drinks like Fiesty Foxie, Skinny Whippet, Loveable Lab and Posh Poodle, it will be a fun afternoon.

There will be fun competitions which you can enter for a gold coin donation to win prizes:

So grab a schooner and head for the garden where it is cool and there are fun outdoor games!

Australia Day Tradition

It has become a bit of a tradition. Lamb on the Spit and our famous Hi Five competition! It’s back for 2014 and fun it will be! Prizes for the most creative Hi-Five and for the best Aussie Hat. Not only that but as a special surprise, Mug and Kettle Comedy will come to the courtyard for the afternoon. So get practicing those Hi-Five moves and stay tuned for more details but lock in Australia Day at the Duck!
